Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2012 Collection

Layers and layers of white. Ensembles made up of three- and four-tiered colorblocking. Wacky flower prints aplenty. The Spring 2012 collection was one of the best I’ve seen from Diane von Furstenberg – and if you ask me, the bags not only completed, they made the looks. At moments when there could have been too much fabric, too much pattern, the lovely assortment of bags kept things grounded and offered context.
Clutches, whether teeny boxes or super-slim envelopes, were a mainstay for her latest collection, with a few streamlined shoulder bags tossed in for good measure. What to do when your dress flaunts a full-on, in-your-face print? Carry a bag that’s equally bold! Pick up on the colors or inject a brand-new one. Bright blue and yellow clutches were the perfect complement, as were the tailored shoulder satchels, so slick they are sure to lengthen the body even if you’re wearing flats. Diane von Furstenberg is clearly feeling optimistic when it comes to springtime – which is just how I’m feeling about her upcoming bags.
